2006 Awards Banquet for 2005 Year

Several individuals were recognized for their contributions to the community during the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce Awards banquet Thursday evening at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. Chamber Members Honored for '05 Contributions

Contributions to the community in the form of time, talents and vocation were recognized during the annual awards banquet of the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce held Thursday at the Elks Lodge. An estimated 230 people attended the banquet which was catered by Hy-Vee.

The evening included the presentation of several awards, the installation of a new club president, and an auction which raised an estimated $11,000 which will be used for chamber functions.

  • John Cramer, a fourth generation farmer, was presented the Agricultural Award.
  • David Copeland and Copeland Development & Construction, which has been involved in many community projects including construction of a new family recreational center, was presented the Outstanding Business Community Service Award.
  • Ed Douglas, who has shown dedication to the success of the community, was presented the Outstanding Personal Community Service Award.
  • Robert Cowherd, whose efforts and determination helped land the development of the recreational center last year, was named the Chamber Person of the Year for 2005.

Also honored Thursday evening was Martha Berry, chosen as the 2005 Chamber Ambassador of the Year. Three other members of the Chamber were honored during the evening with fairly new awards, called Star Awards, presented by executive vice president of the Chamber, Barb Burton. Burton explained that the awards are designed to honor Chamber members for volunteer service for particular Chamber-sponsored events. Those recognized for this honor were Susan Wilson, Chuck Erke, and Eric Turner.

The annual Awards Banquet & Auction on Thursday, January 19, at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge included the following...

  • 5:30 p.m. Social Hour and Silent Auction
  • 6:30 p.m. Dinner and Awards Presentation
  • 7:45 p.m. Live Auction (concluded by 9 p.m.)

Seating was available for sponsors of a table for 8 or individual reservations at $25 each. Auctioneers were Lonnie Sewell and Col. Mike Miller.

Menu: Baron of Beef, Roast Pork Loin, Twice Baked Potatoes, Grilled Fresh Vegetables, Marinated Broccoli Salad, Rolls, Strawberry Cream Pie, Turtle Cheesecake

  • $25 per person includes dinner and hors dourves
  • Sponsor a table for 8 for just $175! Sponsors receive preferred seating closest to the podium, recognition from MC, in newsletter, in media.

The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce recognized outstanding business and personal achievement at its annual awards banquet last (Thursday) evening at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. More than 240 Chamber members and their guests were present to honor the award recipients.

Those receiving awards included:

  • David and Carla Williams - Agriculture Award

  • Lauhoff Jewelry - Outstanding Business Community Service Award

  • Rollie Stadlman - Outstanding Personal Community Service Award

  • Charley Merrill - Chamber Person of the Year Award

  • Zelma Cleaveland and Chuck Haney - Chamber Star Awards

  • Todd Mathew - Ambassador of the Year Award

2004 Awards Banquet for 2003 Year
The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce recognized outstanding business and personal achievement at its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at the Grand River Inn. Citizens were invited to nominate businesses and individuals for the annual awards (see below)

The Agriculture Award is presented each year to an individual or family who has shown leadership in promoting the betterment of agriculture in the city, county, state and nation. Maurice W. Breeden, an award-winning farmer who has been active in the community by serving on several area committees and boards, was presented
the Agriculture award.

The Outstanding Business Community Service Award is presented to an outstanding business that is involved in civic projects that keep the community beautiful, prosperous and progressive and is an ambassador for the community to promote economic development. MidWest Quality Gloves, Inc., a Chillicothe business which assists in Chamber and community projects, was presented the Outstanding Business Community Service award.

The Outstanding Personal Community Service Award is presented to a person who has promoted and worked for the betterment of the Chillicothe community. Jim Johnson, CEO of Hedrick Medical Center (HMC), who also is involved in several local organizations, was presented the Chamber Personal Community Service award.

The Chamber Person of the Year Award is presented to an individual who has promoted and worked for the betterment of the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce and business community. Jim Summerville, of Summerville Insurance Agency, was presented the Chamber Person of the Year award.

Cheri Burns, of Investors National Bank, was presented the Chamber Ambassador Award.
